Critical Friend

Trust boards often face challenges in attracting and retaining trustees with relevant financial backgrounds, particularly those with experience in multi-academy trust (MAT) settings. This poses a risk for academy trusts as it can result in a lack of expertise in financial matters within the board. Additionally, CEOs may find themselves lacking an independent critical friend who can scrutinize the information and advice provided by their finance team.

To address these issues, our subscription service offers access to active CFOs who can provide independent advice and guidance. These experienced professionals can also attend select board meetings as independent financial advisors, offering valuable insights (without voting rights).

Furthermore, our package can be beneficial for new CEOs who are stepping into their first CEO role and may understandably lack financial knowledge and understanding of their responsibilities as the Accounting Officer.
